Living, as we do, in an era of electronic communications, it is possibly better to give than to receive a hand written letter. A clean sheet of writing paper is to the writer what a blank canvas is to the artist: an open field of possibilities. The choice of stationery is as personal to the writer as the pen and ink and can say almost as much about the author as the written word. When it’s written by hand it’s said with feeling.
